Farnley Tyas again — second from that side in a year, after nowt from it in the previous eight, and the book remarks on it. Right trainer, blue, laces present, one snapped, in the hedge bottom on Woodsome Road. Fine and warm.
Two photographs, both came out. Flask conditions good. And then a line I'm quietly proud of on re-reading: 'No stool, no feeling about it, and it didn't need one.' The stool were still fairly new in 2017 and I were still working out the rules for when it come along. The rule I landed on — a feeling, or no stool — has held to this day, and this entry is the rule being applied correctly. A hedge-bottom trainer on a fine morning is a note-and-photograph job. You'd look daft sat on a stool for it, and more to the point you'd be giving it a weight the record doesn't support.
Whether Farnley Tyas turning up twice in a season meant owt, I couldn't tell you. It went quiet again after, which is what places do.
