This were the year I took the website on myself. Gary had built it in 2009 and kept it ticking over, but he were busy with other things by then, so he showed me how to put an entry up and that were that. I've done it myself since. Transcribing Notebook 1 now, the 2011 pages are still in the same blue biro, and the entries are short. I weren't giving conditions in them days. I just wrote what it were and where it were and moved on. Looking back I'd like to know what the weather were doing for some of these, but you can't ask a notebook. Twelve shoes, which felt like a lot at the time. I were getting further out an' all — Meltham, Honley, the reservoir paths. The child's shoe above Butterley I remember better than the entry lets on. Some crackin' finds in here, written up in about eight words each. That were the way of it then.
