Links

Gary put this page on when he built the site in 2009. He said a links page were a normal thing for a website to have and that everybody did one, and I have kept it going since, though I will admit it has not grown fast.

A good half of these have gone now. I have left them on with the date they went, because an address is a record of a sort and because I do not like taking things off. If you click one and get nowt, that is why.

If you keep a site of this kind and you are not on here, write to me and I will put you on.

Things I look at most weeks.

The Met Office I look at it on the Friday night and again on the Saturday morning, and I go out regardless, but it decides what goes in the bag.

Kirklees Council, bin collection dates You put your postcode in and it tells you which bin. It has been wrong once in my experience, over the Christmas, and it were right and I were wrong.

West Yorkshire Metro, timetables For the days I leave the car at home. The 184 and the 185 are the two that matter for the valley.

»
Ordnance Survey They wrote me a proper answer about a stile in 2015, which I have not forgotten. I still use the paper sheet.

The printing firm at Batley that did the pens 250 pens, minimum order, and they came in a box inside a box. The man there gave me sound advice about blue ink.
Site gone now, 2021. They are still in the phone book.

The repair man in the arcade off New Street No website and he will not be getting one. He is near the key cutter. Take both shoes, as he likes to match the wear. I send people to him when they write to me thinking I am a cobbler.

Where I work, the builders' merchant at Lindley Stuart had a site done by a firm in Leeds. I can never remember the address and I have never been able to find it by searching, so ask for Stuart.

People who keep a record of one sort of thing. I met most of them on the board.

The Lost and Single Items Board lostandsingleitems.co.uk. The board I were on from 2013. Gloves, earrings, trolleys, umbrellas, chairs and shoes, and everybody minding their own subject. Gary saved my threads off it before it went, so they are on here now.
Site gone now, September 2019. The hosting lapsed and nobody could get hold of the fellow who paid for it.

Wim, gloves, Utrecht Single gloves in Utrecht, photographed where they lie, with the street and the date on every one. His photographs are better than mine and his English is a good deal better than my Dutch. He sent me a postcard of a bridge.
Last updated 2016. Still there to look at.

Morag, single earrings, Fife Earrings found on pavements, and she draws them as well as photographs them, which I would not attempt. She is the only one of us who has to use a magnifier.
Site gone now, 2018. She is still at it, she tells me, in a book.

boltontrolleys Supermarket trolleys found away from their car parks around Bolton, with a grid reference and a note of how far it had got. He telephones them in afterwards, which is where he and I differ.
Still going as far as I can tell.

The umbrella photographer Broken umbrellas in the street after a wind, in London. He says he gets a year's work in a fortnight in February and nowt at all in the summer, which I understand better than most would.

ann_kerb Chairs left out at the kerb. One chair at a time, never a set, which is the whole of it and she has never had to explain that to me.

Wheel trims of the A45 A man near Northampton logging wheel trims off the verges, with the make given where he could tell. He had 400 odd when I last looked, which puts me in my place.
Site gone now, 2018.

I have written to five of them over the years and heard back from three. Wim has written twice.

Mossop Pharmaceuticals plc Our Linda's firm. She is in the office and not the laboratory, and she has asked me to make that clear on here, so I have.

Gary Plimmer, web design My nephew. He built this website in 2009 and he is the reason there is a links page on it at all. He had a page of his own with his work on and this one, I am sorry to say, were on it.
Not there at the moment. He has moved to Swindon and I expect it will come back.

Gary says nobody has links pages any more and that people find things another way now. I have asked him how and I did not follow the answer.

It is stopping up.
