Notebook 1. I've had it out the drawer to type these up and it's smaller than I remembered. A red exercise book from the newsagent, and the first four entries take up less than a page between them. I weren't writing much down in them days because I didn't know yet that I were doing owt. The first were the right boot in the field gateway near Marsden, October 2009. I photographed it on me phone, which were unusual for me then. I remember standing there a fair while before I wrote a word. The other three followed before Christmas and I noted them the same way, one line each. No conditions, no flask. It weren't a system yet. It were just a man writing summat down. Our nephew Gary built the website that same autumn, though nowt from Notebook 1 went on it for a good while. Reading it back now, I'd not change a word.
