Layby on the B6107 — Right Boot, Tan

Layby on the B6107, between Meltham and Marsden  ·  Shoe #32  ·  Conditions: warm, dry

Warm and dry for a change, the notebook says, and glad of it, which is as close as the 2012 notes get to emotion. Right boot, tan, steel toe by the look of it, in the layby on the B6107 between Meltham and Marsden, verge side.

That stretch of the B6107 is a road I drive rather than walk, so this will have been spotted from the car and pulled over for, though the notebook doesn't say so and I'm going off how I've always worked laybys. They've been steady providers over the years. Working boots turn up in them more than any other sort, and I record that as a pattern, not an explanation.

Steel toe by the look of it means I didn't pick it up to check, because you can't interfere. No photograph mentioned. Late May 2012 were about the last dry fortnight before the summer went under.

Written up August 2026, from the notebook.
