Rain on and off all morning, mostly on. That's the notebook's phrasing and I've never improved on it as a description of June 2012. The canal were high, which it also records, and it stayed high for months.
Left plimsoll, black, elastic sort, on the towpath wall by Sparth Reservoir at Marsden. Plimsolls are an under-represented shoe in the register generally and the elastic sort more so, so this one earns its place. Sat up on the wall rather than down on the path, which I noted plainly and did not explain.
Photograph didn't come out. Third failure of the year by that point and I remember beginning to wonder about the camera, though it turned out to be more the weather than the equipment. I couldn't tell you owt else about the day. The notebook gives the shoe, the wall, the rain and the canal, and that's the record.
