Blackmoorfoot Reservoir — Right Boot, Black

Blackmoorfoot Reservoir, embankment path  ·  Shoe #36  ·  Conditions: grey, blowy, rain by dinnertime

Blackmoorfoot's first appearance in the register, and it's gone on to be one of my most reliable stretches of water. Right boot, black, well worn, no laces, on the embankment path at the north end.

Grey and blowy with rain by dinnertime, and the notebook adds that the reservoir were fuller than I'd ever seen it in August. After the summer 2012 had, that were no surprise, but I recorded it anyway, because a full reservoir in August is worth a line whether it surprises you or not.

No laces at all on a well-worn boot is the plainest sort of find there is, and the entry is plain to match. No photograph mentioned. I'd have walked the full embankment before turning back, because you don't drive to Blackmoorfoot to look at one boot and go home, though the notebook records only the boot, which is right, because the boot were the business of the day.

Written up August 2026, from the notebook.
