Fog on the tops all day, never lifted past the chimneys. That's the notebook, in pencil, and it's a better weather report than owt the radio gave that morning.
Left boot, black, rigger sort, no laces to speak of, in the layby on the A62 above Linthwaite, up against the kerb stones. Second layby boot of the year, and the second working boot an' all, the tan one on the B6107 in May being the other. I weren't keeping tallies of that sort in 2012, but transcribing the year in one sitting you see the patterns the notebook couldn't.
The entry ends noted and left, which is all any entry really needs to say. No photograph, and in that fog it would have been a photograph of fog. I remember the A62 being quiet, though whether that's this day or just every foggy Saturday on the A62 run together, I honestly couldn't tell you now.
