The conduit path on the west side of Blackmoorfoot, which I've walked more times than I could count. Left boot, black, sole coming away at the toe. No laces. The notebook says grey all day with a bit of sleet on the way back, and I've no reason to doubt it.
A boot with the sole going is a boot that's been out a while, and I noted the condition without going further than that, which is the right way of doing it. No photograph is mentioned, so I don't believe I took one, or if I did it didn't come out and I didn't think it worth recording either way. I couldn't tell you now which it were. Early February on the conduit path is a quiet sort of walking, and that suited me then same as it does now.
