I've walked up Castle Hill more or less monthly since 1976, so it were only a matter of time before it started producing. Left plimsoll, white, child's or a small man's — I couldn't settle it then and I can't settle it now — no laces to speak of, on the grass bank below the tower. Breezy and dry.
The notebook says 'Castle Hill again, which is getting to be a habit', which made me smile transcribing it, because the habit were nearly forty year old by then and it's fifty now. When you walk a place monthly you see what it holds. In May 2014 it held a plimsoll.
