A hung shoe is a different category to a dropped one in my mind, though I've never formalised the distinction and the register doesn't make it. This were a right boot, brown, laces tied together and hung on a fence post at the edge of Honley Old Wood. You note what's there: laces tied together, hung. Mild for September, dry underfoot.
Egg and cress — the notebook says so, and it's the first egg and cress in the written record, though Our Linda had been making them long before I thought to write it down. I remember standing a good while looking at that boot. Whether I photographed it the notebook doesn't say, and I've no photograph filed, so likely it didn't come out or I never took one. Either way the record holds what it holds.
