Blackmoorfoot again, second of the year from there, this time by the sailing club gate. Left trainer, white, sole split along one side, laces in. Fine morning, clear over Deer Hill — you get them in late September and they're worth being out for whether owt turns up or not. This were a crackin' one and summat did turn up, so it goes down as a good day twice over.
The notebook makes a point of 'second one here this year', which shows the counting instinct were already at work: not just what and where, but how often, and how often here. Blackmoorfoot has a habit of giving me two in a year and I've never got to the bottom of why. I don't intend to. That's not really the point of what I do.
