Back out Hade Edge way, which had earned the trip in April. Child's shoe, right, black, buckle sort, and the buckle still done up, on the drystone wall along Greave Road. The wind were sharp off the moor — the notebook says so, and Greave Road in October leaves no doubt about it.
The buckle still done up is the detail I'd want kept, and it were kept. Photograph didn't come out. That made two children's shoes in the year, after the blue canvas at Holmfirth in March, and the children's ones stay with you more than the others do. I'll say that and leave it there.
