Ledgard Bridge, Mirfield — Child's Shoe, Left, Blue

Ledgard Bridge, Mirfield  ·  Shoe #74  ·  Conditions: grey, no rain

A child's shoe, left, blue, with a velcro strap — so nowt to record under laces, which the notebook notes anyway, because a field left blank on purpose is different from a field forgotten. It were in good condition and it were sat on the wall by Ledgard Bridge, and the notebook says 'as if put there', which is as far as I'll go. Folk do set a found shoe up on a wall where it can be seen — that's common with children's shoes and it's a decent instinct — but how this one came to be there isn't mine to say, and it's where my interest in the matter ends.

Grey day, no rain. Mirfield again — I were over that side a fair bit in 2015, and Ledgard Bridge is right in the middle of town by the river, so this were a shoe found among people going about their morning rather than up on a moor. That changes nothing about the recording of it. Noted and left where it was, the notebook says, and that's what happened. Number 74.

Written up August 2026, from the notebook.
