Liversedge, which tells you I were over that side of the district again, and the notebook is honest about why: 'over that side again on account of the folder'. I'll be as honest transcribing it. In 2015 I made a number of trips towards Heckmondwike following up reports that never came to owt, and the shoes I actually found on them trips were ordinary shoes that had nothing to do with any of it. This were one of them.
Right trainer, grey, laces present, and the detail I'm pleased I recorded: mud on the sole only. A clean upper with a muddy sole means the shoe hadn't been there long and hadn't been rained on, and on a warm dry May morning that all hangs together. I didn't note conclusions like that at the time — I just noted the mud — but the facts keep, which is the point of noting them.
It were on the grass by Roberttown Lane, near the church end. Flask conditions good. No photograph mentioned. I drove home with nowt for the folder and number 79 for the register, and of the two, the register got the better morning out of it.
