Blackmoorfoot, the west bank, at the foot of the embankment. Left boot, brown, laces in and tied. The notebook says it had been there a while by the look of it, and I'd have judged that off the state of the leather, though the notebook doesn't record what the leather were like, so that's as far as I can take it.
A grey day, no wind to speak of. Flask conditions fair — not good, fair, and I've no memory now of what let it down, though at the end of January it's usually the tea going lukewarm faster than you'd like. Two photographs taken, one came out. That were about the going rate in them days.
A boot with the laces tied always gets a longer look from me, and I expect it did then, though the notebook records the fact and not the looking. Blackmoorfoot comes up a fair bit in the register over the years, being close and being reliable, and this were a solid entry for it. Nowt more to say than the notebook says, which is how it should be.
